Found across multiple habitat types including tropical and subtropical moist broadleaf forests, tropical and subtropical dry broadleaf forests, and tropical and subtropical grasslands and savannas, among 8 distinct biome types spanning the Australasia and Afrotropic and Indomalayan realms. Classified as Least Concern by the IUCN, the species maintains stable populations across diverse terrestrial and aquatic habitats throughout sub-Saharan Africa, though specific geographic range data for this entry are limited. <em>Helogale parvula</em> is a highly social carnivore that typically lives in cooperative family groups of up to thirty individuals, led by a dominant breeding pair.
