Description
The Danube Delta is Europe's largest and best-preserved river delta, where the Danube empties into the Black Sea across 5,800 square kilometers of channels, lakes, and reedbeds. Over 300 bird species use this wetland, and it is the primary breeding site for Dalmatian pelicans in Europe. Reed beds provide habitat for specialized nesting birds and filter nutrients from the river.
