Luteimonas aquatica is a yellow-pigmented, Gram-negative rod isolated from freshwater environments, as its species name suggests. It inhabits rivers, lakes, and other freshwater aquatic habitats. This aerobic chemoheterotroph decomposes organic matter in freshwater systems and contributes to aquatic nutrient cycling.

Luteimonas padinae is a yellow-pigmented, Gram-negative bacterium first isolated from the brown alga Padina in marine environments. It inhabits coastal marine habitats, particularly in association with macroalgae. This aerobic chemoheterotroph degrades organic compounds derived from algal tissues and marine organic matter.
