Like other small Andean rodents, <em>Auliscomys pictus</em> is likely omnivorous to herbivorous in diet, consuming seeds, plant material, and occasionally invertebrates. These rodents serve as important prey items for Andean raptors, foxes, and mustelids, occupying a central trophic position in high-altitude ecosystems.
