Katagnymene pelagic is a marine, nitrogen-fixing cyanobacterium found in open ocean environments, particularly in tropical and subtropical waters. It forms bundled filament aggregates and contributes significantly to nitrogen input in oligotrophic marine ecosystems. Its conservation status is not evaluated.
