Haematomma ochroleucum is a crustose lichen with a pale yellowish to whitish granular thallus and distinctive red-staining apothecia characteristic of the genus. It grows on the bark of ancient deciduous trees and rock faces in temperate woodlands and coastal habitats across Europe. This lichen is associated with old-growth forest conditions and unpolluted air.
