Chromophysomonas serrata is a species of chrysophyte alga in the class Chrysophyceae, belonging to a group of predominantly freshwater, golden-brown flagellates. Chrysophytes are unicellular or colonial photosynthetic algae characterized by their golden-brown plastids containing chlorophyll a and c along with fucoxanthin and other accessory pigments. Members of the chrysophytes are significant components of freshwater planktonic communities in temperate and boreal lakes and ponds, contributing substantially to primary production.
