Nostoc sphaericum is a colonial, nitrogen-fixing cyanobacterium in the family Nostocaceae, forming gelatinous spherical or irregular colonies visible to the naked eye. It inhabits moist soils, rocks, and freshwater environments, often forming conspicuous blobs after rainfall.
