Natronorubrum is a genus of extremely haloalkaliphilic archaea in the family Halobacteriaceae, thriving in soda lakes with both high salt and high pH. Members of this genus are pigmented red due to bacterioruberin carotenoids and are found in alkaline hypersaline environments.
