Common Agalinis

<em>Agalinis tenuifolia</em>, commonly known as Common Agalinis or Slender False Foxglove, is an annual wildflower in the family Orobanchaceae native to North America. This species occurs across Canada and the United States, where it typically grows in open habitats such as meadows, prairies, roadsides, forest edges, and disturbed ground. Common Agalinis is a hemiparasitic plant, meaning it obtains some of its nutrients by attaching to the roots of nearby host plants while also photosynthesizing independently. It typically produces small, pink to rose-purple tubular flowers with spotted throats during late summer and autumn, attracting a variety of pollinators including bees and butterflies. The slender stems and linear leaves give the plant a delicate, wispy appearance. As a native annual, it completes its life cycle within a single growing season, relying on seed dispersal for population persistence. Its conservation status has not been formally evaluated by the IUCN. Biological traits of this species remain poorly documented in the scientific literature.
