The species inhabits virtually all terrestrial and freshwater habitats, reflecting a generalist ecological strategy. Its documented range spans Taiwan in Asia, four European countries, and both Canada and the United States in North America. Common green capsid is assessed as Least Concern on the IUCN Red List.
