Found in humid tropical forest canopy from Colombia and Venezuela south to Bolivia and Brazil, they inhabit forest edges and secondary woodland. They probe flowers for nectar with their long, curved bills and also eat berries and small insects. An important pollinator of tropical canopy flowers.
