O bicudo-ardosia (Saltator grossus) e uma ave grande comedora de sementes com um poderoso bico palido e plumagem pizarra uniforme, que habita as florestas umidas de terras baixas da bacia amazonica, America Central e norte da America do Sul. Apesar do nome, e classificado no genero Saltator. Seu robusto bico permite quebrar sementes duras demais para a maioria das outras aves. Forrageiam em pares ou grupos pequenos no interior e nas bordas de florestas densas. Classificado como Pouco Preocupante.
