Ceratium trichoceros é um dinoflagelado marinho planctônico com três chifres característicos, dois dos quais são paralelos e longos. Habita oceanos tropicais e subtropicais, sendo componente regular do microplâncton oceânico. Possui cloroplastos amarelo-dourados para fotossíntese e pode também se alimentar de outras partículas orgânicas. A estrutura dos chifres pode servir como adaptação contra a predação e para regulação da flutuação.
