Um dos papagaios de estimação mais populares do mundo, depois do periquito e do papagaio-cinzento-africano, os papagaios-campeiros são reconhecidos pelo rosto amarelo vivo com fronte azul e manchas laranja-avermelhadas nos ombros. Nativos da América do Sul central no Brasil, Bolívia, Paraguai e Argentina, habitam florestas, matas e palmeirais. Altamente inteligentes com fortes capacidades de mimetismo e fala, são mantidos como animais de estimação desde o século XVIII. As populações selvagens enfrentam pressão devido à captura.
