Habitat & Geographic Range
Inhabits tropical and subtropical moist broadleaf forests and deserts and xeric shrublands within the Afrotropic biogeographic realm. Populations are also found in montane and highland environments at higher elevations.
Widely distributed across Africa (10 countries), Asia (4 countries), Europe (6 countries), North America (Mexico), Oceania and the Pacific (Fiji), and South America (6 countries).
Native to Asia, inhabiting ecosystems characteristic of the region.

Vibrio cholerae e uma bacteria aquatica gram-negativa, com forma de virgula e altamente movel, agente causador da pandemia de colera em humanos. Habita estuarios costeiros, deltas fluviais e ambientes marinhos quentes, frequentemente associada ao plancton, especialmente copepodos. Esta bacteria facultativamente anaerobia se propaga por agua e alimentos contaminados, causando diarreia aquosa grave com grande impacto em saude publica.
Vibrio jasicida e um bastao gram-negativo marinho conhecido como patogeno de invertebrados marinhos, incluindo crustaceos e moluscos. Habita agua do mar costeira e ambientes estuarinos em regioes marinhas quentes. Esta bacteria quimioheterotrofica causa doencas semelhantes a vibriose em operacoes de aquicultura de bivalves e camaroes.
