Tourmaline Sunangel
Um beija-flor andino de grande altitude nomeado pelo quente plumagem gorguletal ambar-alaranjado que o caracteriza, os anjos-do-sol-tourmalina habitam os campos de paramo, a floresta de nuvem e as bordas florestais na Colombia, Venezuela e Equador a altitudes de 2.200 a 4.100 metros. Os machos exibem um gorguleto de brilhos cobres aranajados a purpura dependendo do angulo da luz. Como todos os anjos-do-sol, sao relativamente tolerantes ao frio para beija-flores e podem reduzir significativamente sua taxa metabolica a noite para conservar energia nos frios Andes.
