O beija-flor-pintado (Adelomyia melanogenys) e um beija-flor de porte medio com as partes inferiores pintalgadas ou malhadas, incomum entre os beija-flores dominados por plumagens lisas ou iridescentes. Habita florestas de neblina e bordas de floresta nos Andes, da Colombia e Venezuela ate a Bolivia, em elevacoes de 900 a 3.000 metros. O padrao de manchas nas partes inferiores oferece camuflagem notavel quando o ave se pousa sobre casca coberta de liquens. E importante polinizador de epifitas andinas.
