Komvophoron minutum é uma minúscula cianobactéria filamentosa que forma tricomas curtos, retos ou levemente curvados em diversos habitats aquáticos, incluindo riachos, lagos e ambientes terrestres úmidos. Seu tamanho diminuto a torna pouco conspícua, mas contribui para comunidades de tapetes microbianos e formação de biofilmes sobre substratos submersos. Esta espécie está distribuída por ecossistemas de água doce temperados e boreais.
