Lophodermium piceae é um ascomiceto endófito e patógeno que produz ascocarpos lenticulares com abertura em fenda nas acículas de abetos. Habita o tecido das acículas de espécies de Picea em florestas boreais e montanas no Hemisfério Norte. Este fungo é tanto componente endofítico de acículas saudáveis quanto pode causar doença de queda de acículas em abetos enfraquecidos ou estressados.
