Hymenochaete cinnamomea é um fungo corticiode couro de cor marrom-canela que forma corpos frutíferos resupinados a efuso-reflexados em madeira dura morta. Habita florestas temperadas e subtropicais, crescendo na casca de árvores mortas em pé e troncos caídos. Este fungo decompõe madeira causando podridão marrom em espécies de madeira dura e participa da ciclagem de nutrientes florestais.
