O maior primata do mundo, os gorilas ocidentais pesam até 180 kg e habitam as florestas tropicais e subtropicais da África equatorial. Principalmente herbívoros, vivem em grupos familiares liderados por um macho dominante (silverback) que protege o bando e medeia conflitos sociais.
