Hygrocybe turunda é um pequeno cogumelo higrocíbico de cor escarlate a vermelho-alaranjado com uma superfície de chapéu seco e escamoso que o distingue de espécies afins de chapéu liso. Cresce em pastagens sem melhoramento e pobres em nutrientes e gramados musgosos na Europa temperada, particularmente em prados antigos.
