Habitat & Geographic Range
Native to Europe, inhabiting ecosystems characteristic of the region.
Distributed across Norway and Sweden.
Cottontop Tamarin
Found across multiple habitat types including tropical and subtropical moist broadleaf forests, tropical and subtropical dry broadleaf forests, and tropical and subtropical grasslands and savannas, among 5 distinct biome types spanning the Neotropic and Oceanian realms. Populations are also found in montane and highland environments at higher elevations.
Found in Colombia. Currently classified as Critically Endangered on the IUCN Red List, this species faces significant conservation challenges across its range.
Chroococcus rufescens é uma cianobactéria unicelular da família Chroococcaceae, caracterizada pela coloração avermelhada-acastanhada da bainha mucilaginosa que envolve as células. Habita principalmente solos úmidos, superfícies rochosas e ambientes aquáticos de água doce. Como pioneira em habitats adversos, contribui para a formação e estabilização do solo. Possui adaptações para tolerar dessecação e alta irradiação solar. A pigmentação avermelhada protege contra a radiação UV excessiva.
