O cigarra-pizarra (Sporophila schistacea) e um pequeno coleiro de coloracao azul-ardosia nos machos, com bico palido, que habita pastagens abertas, savanas e bordas de floresta desde a Nicaragua ate a Bolivia ao longo do flanco pacifico da America do Sul. Forrageiam em pequenos bandos sobre sementes de gramineas. Como muitos Sporophila, sofre pressao pela captura para o comercio de aves de gaiola e pela perda de habitat devido a conversao de pastagens.
