Possui coroa castanha contrastante com lista superciliar branca e máscara facial preta. Alimenta-se de sementes, frutos e invertebrados no chão ou perto dele. É uma espécie frequentemente encontrada em pares, que percorrem o sub-bosque em busca de alimento.
