Distribui-se nas savanas africanas e, em pequena população, no Irã. Diferentemente de outros grandes felinos, não ruge. O beija-flor-de-pernas-felpudas-esverdeado (Haplophaedia aureliae) é um pequeno beija-flor das florestas úmidas andinas da Colômbia, Equador e Panamá. Seu nome faz referência aos distintivos tufos de penas brancas e macias nos tarsos, compartilhados por todos os membros do gênero Haplophaedia. Habita bordas de floresta e vegetação secundária entre 800 e 2.100 metros de altitude, forrageando néctar em pequenas plantas com flores no sub-bosque. Classificado como Pouco Preocupante, com populações relativamente estáveis em toda a sua área de ocorrência.
