Causa amarelamento e clorose das folhas com esporo cinzento caracteristico na face inferior durante condicoes umidas. Sua especificidade ao hospedeiro para ortigas torna-o um modelo interessante para estudar a coevolucao entre patogenos oomicetos e seus hospedeiros silvestres.
