É aeróbia a facultativamente anaeróbia e é encontrada em solos, água e matéria orgânica em decomposição. Como outras espécies de Lysinibacillus, distingue-se de Bacillus pela estrutura de peptidoglicano Lys-Ala em sua parede celular.
