Habitat & Geographic Range

Found across multiple habitat types including tropical and subtropical moist broadleaf forests, tropical and subtropical dry broadleaf forests, and tropical and subtropical grasslands and savannas, among 11 distinct biome types. Populations are also found in montane and highland environments at higher elevations.
Widely distributed across Asia (Taiwan), Europe (5 countries), and South America (Colombia, Ecuador, Venezuela). Currently classified as Vulnerable on the IUCN Red List, this species faces significant conservation challenges across its range.

Entre as baleias grandes mais acrobáticas, as baleias-jubarte são famosas por seus cantos complexos e evocativos entoados pelos machos durante a temporada reprodutiva, podendo durar horas e evoluir ao longo do tempo. Atingindo 16 metros e 30 toneladas, realizam as migrações mais longas de qualquer mamífero. Encontradas em todos os oceanos, alimentam-se de krill e peixes pequenos usando a técnica cooperativa de rede de bolhas.
Tenacibaculum aiptasiae e uma bacteria marinha gram-negativa da familia Flavobacteriaceae, originalmente isolada da anemon-do-mar Aiptasia. E um organismo deslizante em forma de bastao adaptado a vida em associacao com invertebrados marinhos hospedeiros. Os membros do genero Tenacibaculum sao amplamente distribuidos em ambientes marinhos e algumas especies sao conhecidas como patogenos de peixes.
