Vibrio mimicus e um bastao curvo gram-negativo estritamente relacionado com Vibrio cholerae, mas bioquimicamente distinto. Habita agua do mar costeira, estuarios e frutos do mar em ambientes marinhos tropicais e subtropicais quentes. Esta bacteria facultativamente anaerobia pode causar doenca gastrointestinal em humanos que consomem frutos do mar crus contaminados.
