Bamboo bear

O panda-gigante (Ailuropoda melanoleuca) é um animal emblemático da China, célebre pela sua pelagem branca e preta e pela dieta baseada quase exclusivamente em bambu. Seu estado de conservação é vulnerável (VU), é o animal-bandeira da conservação internacional da vida silvestre e sua população apresentou alguma recuperação nos últimos anos.

Novosphingobium rhizosphaerae e um bacilo aerobio gramnegativo associado ao ambiente da rizosfera das plantas, como sugere seu nome de especie. Habita a zona radicular de diversas plantas em solos temperados. Este quimio-heterotrofo decompoe exsudados radiculares e materia organica na rizosfera das plantas, com potencial influencia na nutricao e na saude vegetal.
