Populations are also found in montane and highland environments at higher elevations.
Distributed across Costa Rica, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Trinidad and Tobago. Currently classified as Vulnerable on the IUCN Red List, this species faces significant conservation challenges across its range.
Aphanocapsa sideroderma é uma cianobactéria unicelular que forma agregados coloniais em bainhas gelatinosas com camadas externas incrustadas de ferro. Habita ambientes de água doce ricos em ferro, incluindo nascentes, córregos e zonas úmidas.
