Slate-colored Grosbeak

아마존 분지, 중앙아메리카, 남아메리카 북부의 습한 저지대 숲에 서식하는 크고 두꺼운 부리를 가진 씨앗 먹는 새로, 전체적으로 어두운 슬레이트 회색 깃털과 강력한 연한 부리를 지닌다. 이름과 달리 Saltator 속으로 분류된다. 빽빽하고 습한 숲 내부와 숲 가장자리에 서식하며 짝을 이루거나 소규모 무리를 이루어 큰 씨앗과 단단한 열매를 채집한다. 강력한 부리로 대부분의 다른 새들이 깨지 못하는 단단한 씨앗도 쪼개어 먹는다. IUCN 적색 목록에서 최소 관심 종으로 등재되어 있다.

Streaked Saltator

줄무늬솔타토르(Saltator striatipectus)는 콜롬비아, 에콰도르, 파나마의 태평양 연안 저지대에 서식하는 중형 솔타토르로, 가슴과 옆구리에 굵은 갈색과 흰색 줄무늬가 있어 이름이 붙었습니다. 숲 가장자리, 덤불, 이차림에 서식하며 쌍 또는 소집단으로 씨앗과 과일을 채식합니다. 최소관심종으로 등록되어 있으나 농업 확장과 삼림 벌채로 점점 위협받는 태평양 저지대에 한정된 분포 범위를 가집니다. 솔타토르 특유의 풍부한 휘파람 소리를 냅니다.
