Trechispora microspora는 이름이 나타내듯 매우 작은 포자를 생성하는 피층 균류이다. 온대 및 아한대 산림에서 부후 활엽수 및 침엽수 통나무 아래면에 얇은 흰색~크림색 지각으로 자란다. 이 부후성 균류는 죽은 목질 물질을 분해하여 산림 생태계의 영양소 순환에 기여한다.
