페루, 에콰도르, 콜롬비아의 안데스 산기슭 습윤림에 서식하는 대형 은자벌새(Phaethornis syrmatophorus)로, 따뜻한 황갈색 하면과 녹청동색 상면이 대조를 이루며 길고 크게 굽은 부리를 가진다. 해발 300~1,500m 산지 산림 하층에서 발견된다. 모든 대형 은자벌새처럼 넓게 분산된 꽃들을 잇는 먹이 순환로를 따라 채식한다. 수컷은 전통적인 집단 구애장에 모여 반복적인 큰 소리로 암컷을 유인한다.
