중앙아메리카에서 아마존 유역에 걸친 습한 저지대 및 산기슭 숲의 대형 은자 벌새로, 계피색-적갈색 가슴과 하체 깃털이 청동빛 녹색 상체와 긴 구부러진 부리와 대비된다. 수컷들은 렉(공동 노래 집회장)에 모여 암컷을 유인하기 위해 음성 디스플레이를 수행한다. 조밀한 숲 하층부를 따라 트랩 라인 경로를 따른다. 열대우림에서 대형 Heliconia 꽃의 중요한 꽃가루 매개자이다.
