Common Potoo

멕시코에서 아르헨티나에 이르는 중앙아메리카와 남아메리카 열대 숲의 야행성 조류인 포투(Nyctibius griseus)는 낮 동안 부러진 나무 그루터기나 가지 위에서 꼼짝 않고 앉아 눈을 가늘게 뜨고 나무껍질과 구별할 수 없을 만큼 완벽하게 위장한다. 밤에는 노출된 횃대에서 거대한 입을 벌려 대형 곤충을 사냥한다. 구슬프고 애절한 울음소리는 열대림 밤을 가득 채운다.
