Common Horned Lark

가장 널리 분포하는 종달새류인 뿔종달새(Eremophila alpestris)는 유럽에서 해안종달새라고도 불리며, 북아메리카·유럽·아시아·북아프리카에 걸쳐 북극 툰드라·고산 황야·해안 사구·초원 등 탁 트인 맨 땅에 서식한다. 수컷의 머리에 있는 작은 검은 깃털 뭉치에서 이름이 유래했다. 툰드라에 눈이 덮여 있는 이른 봄에 번식지에 가장 먼저 도착하는 새 중 하나이다. 일 년 내내 땅 위에서 씨앗과 곤충을 먹는다.
