The species is classified as Least Concern on the IUCN Red List. Rhoicissus tridentata is native to sub-Saharan Africa, where it typically grows in forest margins, thickets, rocky outcrops, and riverine woodlands. It climbs by means of tendrils, often scrambling over shrubs and into tree canopies. The plant produces small, dark purple to black berries that are edible and have been used as a food source by indigenous communities across its range.
