따뜻한 버프 황색 꼬리 기부와 왕관형 홍채색 머리로 이름 붙여진 대형의 튼튼한 벌새인 버프꼬리코로네트는 콜롬비아와 에콰도르 북부 안데스의 습한 구름 숲과 산림 가장자리에 해발 1,200~2,800미터 고도에서 서식합니다. 꿀이 풍부한 영역을 방어하며 대형 꽃 피는 나무에서 먹이를 구합니다. 저지대 종에 비해 높은 고도의 찬 환경에서 먹이 활동에 적응한 결과로 벌새치고는 큰 몸집을 지닙니다. 관심대상으로 등재되었습니다.
