Rainbow-bearded Thornbill

무지개수염가시부리벌새(Chalcostigma herrani)는 녹색에서 파란색, 보라색으로 이어지는 특유의 길고 다채로운 목턱을 가진 화려하게 명명된 벌새이다. 콜롬비아, 베네수엘라, 에콰도르, 페루의 해발 3,200~4,500미터 파라모 초지와 관목지에 서식한다. 가장 고도가 높은 벌새 중 하나로 저지대 파라모 꽃을 먹이로 삼으며 야간 동면을 통해 영하의 밤 기온에 적응되어 있다.
