Staphylococcus capitis는 특히 피지선이 풍부한 부위인 인간의 두피와 얼굴에 흔히 발견되는 응고효소 음성 그람 양성 구균이다. 인간과 영장류의 정상 피부 미생물총의 구성원이다. 이 공생 세균은 피부 지질을 분해하며 신생아와 면역 저하 환자에서 기회 감염을 일으키는 경우가 있다.
