Populations are also found in montane and highland environments at higher elevations.

Range

Found in Kenya. Currently classified as Vulnerable on the IUCN Red List, this species faces significant conservation challenges across its range.

Common Gromwell

Habitat

Typically found in diverse terrestrial habitats from tropical forests to temperate regions.

Range

Widely distributed across Asia (Japan), Europe (7 countries), North America (Canada, United States), Oceania and the Pacific (Australia), and South America (Colombia). Listed as Near Threatened, this species requires ongoing monitoring to prevent population decline.

African elephant

Common Gromwell

Lithospermum officinale, commonly known as common gromwell, is a herbaceous perennial plant belonging to the genus Lithospermum within the family Boraginaceae. This species occupies diverse terrestrial habitats from tropical forests to temperate regions and has a broad intercontinental range, including Japan in Asia, seven European countries, Canada and the United States in North America, Australia in Oceania, and Colombia in South America. Notably, Lithospermum officinale is assessed as Near Threatened on the IUCN Red List, indicating that while it does not currently meet the criteria for a threatened category, it is close to qualifying or is likely to qualify in the near future without ongoing conservation attention. The species typically favors dry, calcareous grasslands and open scrubland. Biological traits of this species remain poorly documented in the scientific literature.
