ペスト菌（Yersinia pestis）は、歴史上数千万人の命を奪ったペスト（黒死病）の原因となるグラム陰性桿菌です。ノミを媒介としてげっ歯類からヒトへ感染し、腺ペスト・敗血症型ペスト・肺ペストの3形態で発症します。現代の抗生物質で治療可能ですが、耐性菌株の出現が監視されています。
