About

中央アメリカからアマゾン流域にかけての湿潤な低地および山麓の森林に生息する大型の隠者ハチドリで、シナモン色の赤褐色の胸部と下面の羽毛が青銅がかった緑色の上面と長い湾曲した嘴と対照をなす。雄はレック（共同鳴き場）に集まり、雌を引き付けるために音声ディスプレイを行う。密な森林下層植生に沿ってトラップライン経路をたどる。熱帯雨林における大型のヘリコニア花の重要な花粉媒介者である。
