アンデスの雲霧林に生息する中型のタナガーで、温かみのあるバフオレンジ色の腹面と深みのある青黒色の上面・翼が対照的な色彩をなします。ベネズエラからボリビアまで標高2,000〜3,600mの湿潤な山地林に分布します。ペアや小群で果実と昆虫を採食し、混群に参加することもあります。軽度懸念に分類されています。
