Novosphingobium rhizosphaerae は、種名が示すとおり植物根圏環境と関連するグラム陰性の好気性桿菌である。温帯土壌における様々な植物の根圏に生息する。この化学有機栄養菌は植物根圏での根滲出物と有機物を分解し、植物の栄養と健康に影響を与える可能性がある。

Sphingomonas dokdonensis は東海の独島(竹島)から最初に単離された Sphingomonadaceae 科のグラム陰性好気性細菌である。他の Sphingomonas 種と同様に細胞膜中にスフィンゴ脂質を持つことが特徴で、海洋および沿岸生息地に見られる。保全状況は評価されていない。
