Navicula hambergiは淡水底生および浮遊性生息地で見られる舟形の羽状珪藻である。中央縫合線を持つ対称的な槍形のシリカ殻は大型のNavicula属の典型的な特徴である。この種は水生一次生産に寄与し、異なるNavicula種が汚染に対する耐性が異なるため淡水水質の生物学的モニタリングに利用される。

Navicula streckeraeはNaviculaceae科に属する淡水珪藻で、ヨーロッパの淡水生息地から記載され、珪藻学者Regine Steckerにちなんで命名された。河川と湖沼の底生および水草ニッチに生息する。
