Found across multiple habitat types including tropical and subtropical moist broadleaf forests, tropical and subtropical dry broadleaf forests, and tropical and subtropical grasslands and savannas, among 4 distinct biome types spanning the Australasia and Indomalayan realms. Populations are also found in montane and highland environments at higher elevations.

Pedobacter roseusはSphingobacteriaceae科に属するピンク色素を持つグラム陰性菌で、土壌環境から分離されています。特徴的なバラ色のコロニーを形成し、有機物のある冷温~温帯土壌に生息します。この好気性化学有機栄養体は様々な有機基質を分解し、ヒアルロニダーゼ型酵素を産生します。
